The Legislative Building is open to the public year round, except on State holidays.
Admission is free.

Legislative Building (LB)
The Legislative Building (LB) is a five domed marble structure that houses the Senate and House of Representatives Chambers as well as members and staff offices and committee rooms.
Legislative Office Building (LOB)
The Legislative Office Building (LOB) houses committee rooms, members and staff offices.
Parking
Legislative Complex parking is limited to Members and authorized staff, but there are several visitor's lots nearby that are available to the public:
Visitor's lot 1
Located at the corner of Jones and Wilmington streets

Visitor's lot 2
Located in the 300 block of North Salisbury Street in the ground Level of parking deck 75 and can also be accessed from the 300 block of North McDowell Street

Visitor's lot 3
Located at the corner of Edenton and McDowell streets in the 2nd and 3rd level of parking deck 77

Attending Sessions
Visitors
- Members of the public are welcome to attend sessions from the public galleries on the third floor of the Legislative Building.
- No passess required (seating may be limited on opening and ceremonial days)
- Seating is on a first come basis
- No smoking is permitted in the Legislative Complex
- Photography is allowed
- Applause, demonstrations, and food and beverages are prohibited in the galleries

Admittance to the Senate chamber floor
Members of the Senate, members of the House of Representatives, staff of the General Assembly, staff of the Lieutenant Governor, Judges of the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, and Superior Courts, the Governor and members of the Council of State, former members of the General Assembly, and persons particularly invited and extended the privileges of the floor by the Presiding Officer shall be admitted to the floor of the Senate during its session. Former members of the Senate who are registered lobbyists are not admitted to the floor of the Senate while the Senate is in session.
Admittance to the House chamber floor
Members of the House and Senate, the officers of each Chamber, permanent employees of the General Assembly who have been issued identification tags, former members, Sergeant-at-Arms staff, Pages, and reporters are allowed on the House floor while the House is in session.
