Overview: Section 11.9 of S.L. 2026-41 (Senate Bill 257) modifies the Selectsite Readiness Program administered by the North Carolina Department of Commerce in conjunction with the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina. Selectsites are parcels of contiguous property consisting of less than 1,000 acres that are viable for industrial development. This section adds a new requirement that funds appropriated for the identification and evaluation of additional selectsites must be used for engaging a national site selection firm through a competitive bid process to produce a report identifying and evaluating additional sites for inclusion into the program for preferred marketing and site development.
This section became effective July 1, 2026, and applies to funds appropriated for the identification and evaluation of additional selectsites on or after that date.
